The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error

2008-10-10, 13:57 PM

I updated to a new dvd drive ( FRU:39T2851) and I now get "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error"

I performed the following steps as recommended by MS and still nothing.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891894

I also deleted the device and let it auto detect and still nothing.

This is a t61 dvd burner but fits fine and gets detected by my t43 2678-a11.

Any advise is appreciated.

I realize it may be late to reply to this topic, but it may be because the T61 drive uses a different type of connection to the motherboard than the original T43 drive: SATA as opposed to IDE/PATA I think.
