ThinkPad T60/T60P ACPI\IBM0071 (Infrared Port) and ACPI\IBM0068 (Power Management) drivers for Win/7

It seems that everytime I install a new Windows/7 Pro x86 or x64 system on my ThinkPad T60P 8742-AL1, I get two devices that are unknown and then I spend an hour(s) or so looking for the solutions which are generally posted in SEPARATE forum topics.  I just did a new install this weekend and ran into these unknown devices again.

The ACPI\IBM0071 device is the "Thinkpad Fast Infrared Port" driver available from the Microsoft Update Catalog in both x86 (32 KB size) and x64 (34 KB size) versions at level 6.0.6001.18000 dated 6/21/2006 from National Semiconductor.  Search on "Thinkpad Fast Infrared Port" string on the Microsoft Update Catalog site.  I could not find this driver on the T60P support web page.  I expanded the CAB file (contained 4 files) from Microsoft and refered to the subdirectory containing the irnsc.inf file to successfully install the driver (nscirda.sys).

The ACPI\IBM0068 device is the Lenovo Power Management device ("Lenovo PM device" under System Devices in Device Manager list) and that is the n1mku14w.exe driver and ReadMe from the Lenovo Support site (search on T60p to the Drivers & Software list).  Today it was listed FIRST in the driver list when I browsed to the support site for the T60p.

Note Well:  I do NOT use the Thinkpad Fast Infrared Port myself.

Perhaps a year or so from now if I'm installing Win/7 Pro again, I'll find my own post here useful to me!

The "ATI Mobility FireGL V5250" driver for the T60P Wide Screen is also on the Microsoft Update Catalog site in x86 and x64 types at Version 8.561.0.0 level.  Just search on the string in double quotes in the previous sentence.

Aryeh, yes that is a -> GOOD <- idea, but given that Lenovo has announced the discontinued support for the ThinkVantage Toolkit (14th entry down the list of drivers in the T60p Drivers & Support page), our group of "Lenovo-ites" in the Endicott, NY area only uses Lenovo "tools" when "absolutely" necessary especially for machines like this 9+ year old 8742-AL1 T60p Wide. (We are retired IBM Endicott, Lockheed-Martin formerly IBM Owego, NY and Link Flight Simulation engineers.) I have 3 M58p SFF machines with an M58p tower, a refurbished T430 2349-SJ5, and this T60p which as of 9:45 AM this morning is running Windows 10 Pro x64.
You input is greatly appreciated! All of my machines now have "digital entitlements" for Windows 10 Pro x64 but will likely be left on Windows/7 Pro SP1 x64 for now with the re-installation of their original Win7 hard drives.
