I bought my thinkpad 4 months ago (brand new
but every now and then (sometimes 2 times a month, but today i had it for 2 times on the same day) when i boot my system (Windows 7 or Linux) i black stripes on the screen, it looks like one line is on the next line is off/disabled. the vertical stripes are everywhere no mather what OS i run. When i shutdown the computer and boot it up again its gone.
When i have the stripe problem and i visit for example google.com and close my webbrowser i can still see
the google logo in the background. (like a ghost)...
Can someone tell me what to do with this? I already looked for updates with the lenovo update manager.
Thinkpad T61 7663-2EG
Intel C2D T7500
Nvidia Quadro 140NVS
1440x900 resolution screen.
I tried to make photos of the screen but that isn't working i get all kind of colors
I also just tried to attach my desktop monitor to the laptop but when i enable it the laptop screen flickers and both screens work just fine then. (so i can't find out if it is the screen or it is the videocard that gives me problems)
I tried to find a topic with similar problems but can't realy find it, i hope i post it in the correct forum.
Can someone tell me what is worng with my thinkpad? Do i have to call Lenovo to get for a repair??

Welcome to the forum!
If that T61 has any warranty remaining, you should send it in.

hum... yes sounds like a Nvidia GPU having some problem, need to replace the motherboard (GPU is physically soldered to the motherboard)..
