Hi, this is my first post in this forum and my first problem with Thinkpads!
I recently bought a used laptop, a TP T61p, that have warranty until August 2010.
When I received the laptop, I wanted to restore the OS back to factory default. I followed the steps properly. Tried both restore the system by pressing ThinkVantage-button at start, and tried using the followed Lenovo-DVD's. The problem shows up in the end when it is installing the Norton Anti Virus. The installation stops responding and the HDD-activity also stops. I have left the computer for several hours without anything happens.
Does anyone know what is wrong?

Hi and welcome to the forum!
I think either the HDD or the recovery discs are bad, since it is under warranty try contacting lenovo to send you one of these parts.
Hope it helps.

Couple of things - the DVD drive could also be bad (corrupting files as it reads them to transfer them to the HDD - this may or may not be detected as a read error). Also, your NAV subscription may have expired and this might somehow be stopping the install process (?)
