Warranty Status

2008-06-13, 1:14 AM
I recently ordered a T61 14.1" laptop from Lenovo.com. I ordered the three year Onsite replacement 24x7 NBD package and when i checked the status of my warranty, it came up as "expires________(one year from now)". Can anyone explain why that is?

How long have you had the Thinkpad. It takes a few days after shipment recived for the warranty to  be updated.

I've had it for two days or so...so I should wait about a week before it says that there's a three year warranty?

It has taken 10 business days and three phone calls for warranty to be updated on one of my T61s...on the other one, it got updated within 24 hours...go figure.

Definitely give them a call on Monday, if the update has not gone through by the morning.
Cheers,

George

I don't mind calling, but in my experience, email is the preferred method of contact. Does Lenovo have an email for customer support? Also, is it American CS Representatives or Indian/Asian?

In my experience, people I've spoken to have been native English speakers. No idea about the email part, though.
Cheers,

As far as I know, lenovo/IBM do not outsource any of their support staff. Calling is your best option. Their support center [in the US] is located in Atlanta, Georgia, and they are a very friendly bunch that speak clearly. It's the first time I have called a support line in a long time without having the people repeat things three times!

1-800-426-7378 is the number to the US Support Center. [ Received from http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4HWSE3 ]

Good luck. I hope you don't have a bad experience with your ThinkPad like me.

Hi Maximaboy1,

First of all I am sorry for the warranty status that displayed to you is yet to be updated. Anyhow, i hope i could help in this case. May I have your ten-digit (421# /424# / 4218#) order number and e-mail address that you have registered with Lenovo while purchasing the machine? Please send me a private message when providing me those information.

Thank you for your posting and I am looking forward to receiving your reply.

Cleo
