Why can't I order a WXGA+ screen and a webcam? or an ultrabay battery?

I am having trouble ordering the spec of notebook I require.  I have now managed to get through to the guys at Lenovo only to find that I cannot order the specification I require.

It is a simple matter of requiring a T61 14.1" Widescreen notebook with the WXGA+ screen AND the webcam.  I can order a standard WXGA screen with said webcam but not the WXGA+ screen and the webcam.

Having called I have been informed it is not an option and I cannot have it but having looked at the spares lists for the same notebook I can order the integrated screen/webcam/bluetooth cable for a WXGA+ screen.  Can anybody out there explain why you can buy spares for a specification of notebook Lenovo will not build?

Also is there any reason the additional Ultrabay Battery is no longer an option on the second ordering page?

Just doesn't make any sense at all to me, especially as Lenovo's competitors offer the above screen/camera package as standard.

Baffling, anyone shed any light on the subject?

Lenovo laptops are all pre-built, so from a supply prespective it is easier to build laptops with similar specs.... ... so there is pretty much no possibility of individualisation of computer spec with Lenovo.... unlike Dell which allow you to build laptops to your desired spec, then your laptop are built to your exact order requirement.....

I don't think so. You can customize your thinkpad to many different specs but certain combinations are not possible.

most of the Thinkpad laptops are all preset..... there are many different models within a series..... but a definite model number, you can't really change of its spec.... well at least in Australia that is.... is that different within USA or other countries..... if you want to add more ram to your newly ordered laptop, Lenovo require you install it yourself, rather than it been done during laptop assembly....

Yes, in the USA and now in Canada, you can buy a CTO, or configure to order, system and fit it out to your own needs within limitations.
