I've been fruitlessly downloading drivers for two months to try and get sound for Windows 7 on my Z60m 2529.
Can anyone finally solve this one?

I have a Z61t and also have no sound since I upgraded up to 32 bit, Win 7. I have tried numerous drivers and other tips form this forum, to no avail. I now know why the "talkie" films never lasted. Very hard to lip read my granddaughter who lives in Poland. Many thanks for any help.

I got it working with Win7 Home Edition, however you may need some patience to know the details since I'm abroad on a business trip and I can only check my settings by next Sunday earliest.
I don't remember having done something special for the audio, IIRC Windows Update got it right from the beginning, but it was a while ago... my memory is not what is used to be...

Well I found a solution to the sound problem. In a forum post somewhere when answering another question they recommended installing Thinkvantage System Update. After installing this application I had not solved the sound issue, but about 24 hours later after the update tool had run several times, voila! I now have sound. I wish I could find the original post so I could thank that person, but through no skill of my own, just a little blind luck I know have sound.

Good to know it worked! It confirms my fuzzy memory that I let system update do it
No need to undust my good ol Z60m I guess...
Enjoy your Thinkpad!
