Re: Z60m: Touchpad stopped working.

Hello all,

just recently the touchpad on my Z60m (2529-FZU) stopped working.

It is turned on under BIOS but under Windows (with drivers and utility installed) it tells me the software needs to be installed.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but with the same results.

If I have both the trackpoint and touchpad enabled under the BIOS, none of them work, if I turn off the touchpad and leave the trackpoint on, the trackpoint works fine, if I turn off the trackpoint and turn on the touchpad the touchpad still doesn't work.

I have the latest BIOS update installed also.

I even tried reinstalling Windows hoping it would help, but it didn't.

Does it sound like I need to replace the touchpad/palmrest part or does it sound more serious?

They're both well connected to the motherboard, not loose at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Touchpad stopped working.

did you install the necessary drivers and software for your Touchpad in your windows? If you press Fn + F8 in windows does it give you a list of options?

Re: Touchpad stopped working.

Hi,

thanks for replying.

Yes, the drivers/software are installed.

When I press FN+F8, the message "UltraNav drivers are not installed..." or something like that, comes up on the screen.

I'm just hopping it's a touchpad problem and not the motherboard.

As I mentioned, the Trackpoint does work when enabled by itself (with the touchpad disabled).

Thanks.

Here is the list of drivers relevant to your laptop. Install the ultranav utility and drivers.
