harddrive replacement

I was trying to replace my T61p harddrive.  Everything went fine.  Replaced drive, copied the image from the old drive (including hidden R&R partition) and booted from the new drive.  Bootup into Windows XP seemed normal.  But when I try to login it seems to work at first and then immediately goes to the logoff screen and finally back to the ctrl-alt-del dialog box.  I can't seem to get out of this loop.

Any ideas why?

Re: harddrive replacement

Same situation with safe mode.  Windows seems to boot fine.  After boot, I hit ctrl-alt-del and give my login and password and login seems to start ok.  Then after few second, I see another dialog saying I'm being logged-off.  The desktop is never visible.  I wondering if this is some sort of security issue.

Re: harddrive replacement

I'd say the clone didn't work right. Try it again.

Re: harddrive replacement

some imaging software are not very good, try to reimage the harddrive using Acronis Trueimage and see whether that helps.
