May I know the hardware ID of your bluetooth device (pid). You can get it from Device Manager >> Bluetooth >> Thinkpad Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate II (probably this has yellow bang since you cannot install the driver) >> double-click to launch Properties window >> Details tab > choose Hardware ID from the drop-down list .
Please Copy all information in there, then paste in this forum.
BTW, new driver will be released soon. But we cannot guarantee this issue will be fixed since we cannot recreate this problem. Please try with that driver once released but backup you system first just in case.

I had same problem with TP SL300 win7sp1 64bit when installing Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad 22.214.171.12400 (released 4-4-2011). What I did was: uninstall all MS Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable and it (x64) version, uninstall Thinkpad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II (all from control panel->programs and features, then reinstall them (x86 and x64) from downloads at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=766a6af7-ec73-40ff-b072-9112bab119c2&dis... and the bluetooth software 126.96.36.19900. It worked after these. I am not sure which one made it work but only after I had uninstalled the old version of bluetooth software, my installation went through without the error.

Can you please let us know when the "next 6.4 release" will become available for Windows 7 64 bit running on a W510?
Currently in the drivers download page:
I can only find rel. 188.8.131.5200 dated 4 April 2011...
Thank you very much.

As far as I know, the HDD delete during BT upgrade issue should already be fixed with 184.108.40.20600 (W510). BTW6.4 will fix the problem on later Thinkpads (W520).

I experienced the same problem on my Dell E6510, another laptop I know - but I'm also using Windows 7 and this error occured when I was trying to install bluetooth software.
I did a lot stuff but nothing helped but this actually helped:
SOLUTION: I turned on the service Windows Modules Installer!
So just go in to services.msc and make sure this service is running since it's crucial to install bluetooth software.
Hope it helps for you too!
