t23 & netgear W511 problems with new XP installation

I've bought a used t23 and now put in a bigger HD with 40GB,

then I installed XP pro new and mad a update to SP3.

Unfortunately the netgear w511 does not work.

It seems that the ethernet driver is missing.

The netgear software pops up for a second an then dissapears

When I put in the old 20GB HD whre I installed it some month ago it all works perfect.

Re: t23 & netgear W511 problems with new XP installation

There's a couple things to try. You can uninstall the device in Device Manager, reboot and let Windows find a new driver. If that doesn't work, uninstall SP3, work on getting the device going and reinstall SP3. At least that would rule out any SP3 problems.

Good Luck.

Re: t23 & netgear W511 problems with new XP installation

after reinstalling SP3 it also didn't run.

So my next step was a complete new XP SP2 installtion,

even this didn't solve the problem.

During the installation I found the orignial Netgear software CD and with this CD I could install the correct workingsoftware.

It's V3.1 on the CD.

Now XP makes me again a problem with the wlan,

with the old HD and installation I'm able to connect with the internet via wlan,

with the new setup on the 40 GB HD it's again not possible.

Re: t23 & netgear W511 problems with new XP installation

I think you are trying to make too many changes at once. I've done that too. When I start doing wholesale changes I usually start writing down what I did so I can keep track of what has been done for a better evaluation of what to do next.

Now XP makes me again a problem with the wlan,

with the old HD and installation I'm able to connect with the internet via wlan,

with the new setup on the 40 GB HD it's again not possible.

So with the new XP SP2 installation, have you unstalled all the updates?

I think this can be resolved.

Re: t23 & netgear W511 problems with new XP installation

at first I let the computer delete SP3,

no succes,

than I let XP SP2 format the new HD again and installed a brand new XP SP2

than I put in the netgear CD and could setup the driver and software for the wlan module W511

so now the netgear software works, the driver works but I get no access to the wlan network
