t61 and windows server 2008

i am upgrading my t61 from xp to windows server 2008. yet the bluetooth is not working. the driver said it could not find bluetooth device. secondly the fn hotkey does not work either. fn+f4 is ok, the fn+pgup/dwn is ok, but not fn+f2, f3, f5. any thought?

thank you.

Re: t61 and windows server 2008

Most of these function keys are tied into a specific program(Fn+F3 lets you change schemes with Power manager program)

if the associated program isn't installed you do not have functionality.

more info can be found here.

To fix the problem either vist here to download drivers and sotware manually

Or

Click here to use system udpate to download and instlal software and drivers for you

P.S. bluetooth radio must be powered on first before it is recognozed by windows. After being power on windows will install default microsoft drivers. Fn+F5 function is used to do that. Hotkey driver/utility must be installed to use Fn+F5.

make sure you have .net framework 3.0 installed.

if all else fails, reboot and try again.

Re: t61 and windows server 2008

that's odd.   even though TVSU isn't officially supported under 2008 on thinkpads, i've never had an issue getting it to run.

it's a long shot but check to see if you have the system interface driver installed.   if not you can get it here:

Re: t61 and windows server 2008

as far as i know, it shouldn't matter.   heck, i've installed TVSU on fresh 2008 systems and it had no issues gathering info and downloading updates.   all i did was first install .net 3.

what is the machine type and model number of your T61?   it will look something like "2623-DDU".   (please don't post your serial number Smiley Wink)

Re: t61 and windows server 2008

next time you perform a BIOS update, try changing your model number (RF1) to CTO and see if that helps.   it could simply be that the refurbished MTM isn't in the database.

if you're on a 32-bit windows OS, you can download the BIOS updater and run it from within windows.
