When I wake-up my tablet the home screen comes up but whenever I select any app on the homescreen or select "Apps" in the upper right corner I get the error message:
Activity Launcher (in application Launcher) is not responding
I get this error on 50% of the actions I take. It is making my tablet un-useable. If i wait 20 -30 seconds I can open the app or swipe to the next screen or whatever action I caused the error.

As per the error description it seems some of the fuction running in the background is hampering the system
You may try the following
1. Shutdown the Unit
2. Remove all external devices or cards
3. Switch on the system
4. Now put it to stand by or leave it ideal for some time
5. Now try to wake-up the tablet and Launch any App
6. If the issue is resolved , Then connect the external devices one by one
7. If you are getting the same issue then you may have to get the Tablet Operating system re-imaged

Here is how I finally got this problem fixed (I tried several other things and got frustrated, believe me).
When on Home screen tap the small grey gear just middle left on the Launch Zone, Choose "Messages from Lenovo" and tick the top option: Click here, to stop receiving messages. Worked for me instantly and the tablet is usable again. How ironic that Lenovo messages are causing major bug on their tablet.

Wow.... That worked !!! waiting 20+ seconds after each user click was driving me nuts. After removing those message requests, the tablet is now responding..... Thanks for the post.
