Fn Ctrl Key swap won't work anymore after hotkey package update

2019-12-07, 20:11 PM

I have a Thinkpad X1 Tablet Gen3. Since the last hotkey features integration package setup there's no switch (9.1.0.3) for the fn ctrl key swap anymore. In BIOS there's no function for it neither.

Is there a workaround for this function? I use several other systems, where the ctrl key is on the very left, which makes it very annoying...

Thanks in advance!

Hi ,

We don't have any details for that update as of now, we suggest that you perform a system restore for mean time to swap Fn and Ctrl keys.

Here's how: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht501548

Regards,

Lenovo is simply out of touch with what users need and so far chose to turn a blind eye to how frustrating the FN key to the left of CTRL is. That's why they give no thought to the function being gone in the new update and couldn't care less how many people it affects. Just give us a configurable option so that users can actually choose how they want the keys arranged and prevent any such firmware hassles in the future.

Hi wangyanyan,

Thanks for your reply. This problem that requires a simple yet crucial fix has already been here for more than 3 months. Lenovo seems disinterested to do anything at all and just choose to turn a blind eye to this CTRL FN placement that frustrates so many people.

Greetings. I would like to put in a request to implement a "fn ctrl" swap option.  I find the placement of the fn and ctrl buttons on the P73 cramped and awkward when using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.  Otherwise, the workstation is a perfect fit so far!

Thank you for your consideration.
