How do I get helpful support for the X1 prodictivity module

2016-08-28, 21:29 PM

I recently bought a productivity module for my X1 Tablet.

After about 20 min of use, the keyboard stopped working. It works perfectly fine when attached to the tablet directly. It never showed two distinct batteries, but that seems normal according to some other posts. The battery life went up a bit (maybe one hour) with the module, but no nearly as much as I expected from the Lenovo advertising.

So, I tried again last week, and now in addition to the non-functioning keyboard attachement, the USB port also does stopped working.

So, I finally gave up and wanted tech support. Called them. After 20 min on hold I gave up. Tried online chat. Waited for over 30 min, then simply got disconnected. So, since I was not able to reach a human being within a reasonable time frame, I opened a repair case online. Detailed description of the problem with the module. All I get is autoresponses. But - what do they do now? Send me a box for the tablet. Only the tabley. Not for the productivity module that is broken. Am I supposed to send the Tablet back and keep the broken module?

I feel like Don Quichote fighting windmills here.....is this normal?

Similar experiance with support to what I had. I spent hours trying to get support and at the end was told that I have to contact sales since this is an accessory and not part of the tablet....You can reference this thread:

No. There seems to be total confusion about what this module actually is. It's not a computer, so computer tech support is not responsible. They say it's an accessory. But then of course there is no support for accessories. They will also not take it back. So far, all I have is a box for the tablet to send back. But it's not broken. I refuse to return it. It seems their tech support does not comprehend this......

What's your BIOS version? Did you upgrade it or this version came with from factory?

I am running BIOS 1.55. I think this is the latest one Lenovo has published.

There is an issue with this BIOS version 1.55. The productive module works fine on 1.17.

With 1.55 - leave module 30-60 min off the tablet and then connect it. The keyboard/USB port works 20-40 min and then freezes. I didn't check HDMI out yet. Is it any way to roll back to the previous BIOS version?

That is exactly the issue I have!!!!!

Works for a while , then stops. Good question, how to roll back the bios.
