Memory Space, ThinkPad Tablet 2 64gb Version

2013-01-17, 17:13 PM

I got my ThinkPad Tablet 2, having ordered the 64 gb version specifically because I new that I was loading some programs which required a lot of space for resources.

Upon receipt I saw the list of contents which referenced that a USB memory key was provided for the 32 gb units. Amazingly, the 64 gb units loaded that information into the ram effectively negating what should have been a considerable amount of RAM.

Is there anyway to unload the system recovery files to a memory stick in order to free up RAM?

I think I found a way. This creates a USB recovery drive.

1. Tap Search on the Charms bar.

2. Type "Recovery" and then tap to search Settings

3. Click "Create Recvovery Drive"

4. Follow the steps in that wizard

5.At the end it will give you the option to delete the recovery section off the hard drive to free up space now that it's saved to USB.

Also you can add another 64GB of storage inexpensively using a microSD card. These cards so inexpensive these days that it's worth doing if only to store backups of the TPR2's internal drive.

Have you guys tested the USB Recovery yet?

For I read another thread of : Why can't I boot from a USB key on UEFI ThinkPad or ThinkCentre systems?
