Mobile Network!

My system: Thinkpad tablet Model 183827U - Android Version: 3.1 - Kernel Version 2.6.36.3

My Settings:  "Wi-Fi" + "Network Notification" are ON and Airplane mode is OFF andI can connect to my home wireleess network.

I installed a SIM Card from TMobile as per instructions but I don't have "Mobile Networks" item under "Wireless and Networks" setting.

I would appreciate any help with this problem.  Thank you.

Expecting the unexpected....Does the tablet have a WWAN card installed?

Re: Mobile Network!

I think 183827U is a 64G WiFi only tablet.  So unless you've opened the case and added a card it won't happen.

Good Luck

Re: Mobile Network!

Agreed, the Personal Systems Reference (PSREF) classifies the 1838-27U as a 64 GB WLAN-only model. There is a model with the same specs as your plus PCIe mini card WWAN, the 1838-4RU.  This one, the 4RU, has a Gobi 3000.

Thank you, all!   I am new at this! - What is WWAN Card and how do I know if one is installed? Also, Why this model has a SIM card slot if it has WIFI only feature? Thanks.

I am lost - Please help.  Thanks.

Thank you for all the help!  Some of you correctly pointed out about that the ThinkPad 1838-27U does not support Mobile Wireless although it has a Slot for a SIM Card!  I am VERY disappointed since I bought the unit mainly for this feature.

If you look for this features then search for the following models:

1838-4RU/64G, 1838-PU/32G, 1838-4QU/16G or  1839-3KU/64G, 1839-3JU/32G

Yes, Pens bundled with these models.

Hello

I have a 1838-27U and all the antennas/simslot etc are already built in the board and ready for the upgrade to 3G

all you have to do is call lenovo and buy the gobi 3000 card. undo 2 screws, put card in, install 1 screw, install previous 2 screws and you are ready to hop on the internet. no drivers, no anything!

let me know if you got any questions - also, credit card works wonder seperating the two pieces without damaging or scratching anything
