NFC and 3G/4G on TPT2

2013-01-05, 21:46 PM

Hi everyone,

1) Do you know if it will be possible to upgrade the TPT2 with NFC and/or 3G/4G modules? ( the current 367927U model doesn't have either)

2) Is GPS stock on all models?

Thank you.

Hi, the NFC is offered by  Broadcom BCM20792 NFC Controller, I am not sure if we can buy one and install it.

1) The tablets are not end-user upgradeable. I'd recommend waiting for models with NFC and WWAN if you need to have those.

2) Yes, GPS is standard on all models.

Thanks, Fantastic. Any idea when 3G/LTE-enabled units will be available in US and Canada?

Should be available later in January, but I don't have any official dates to provide.

Fantastic, how long (in terms of number of years, does the battery of thinkpad 2 designed to last, as you mentioned in earlier reply that the tablet is not user serviceable.

The lifespan of a battery is dependent on how the system is used, so it's hard to provide specific estimates of how long it will last. It is very unusual for tablets to offer user-replaceable batteries. Lenovo service can replace a tablet battery, and the battery is covered under the warranty.

I was told that I can Upgrade my TPT2 by my self if I wanted to add NFC or/and WWAN (by Lenovo/IBM support.) Does anyone know what WWAN card that is in the TPT2? Was told that it would be difficult though.
