New tablet - 2 hours old and won't switch on

2013-12-14, 17:03 PM

My Tablet 2 arrived yesterday so I had fun unboxing and setting it up last night.  This morning I used it for a few minutes then had to go out so pressed the Power button.  When I got back, I wanted to try out a few more things but simply haven't been able to switch it back on.  Very frustrating.  I've spent several hours trying to figure it out, I've tried charging it again, I've pressed the emergency reset button, but no response at all.  What on earth should I do next ?  Send it back, I suppose.

Very disappointing indeed.

Hello there.

The same problem but with a new one - it totally didn't start when I got it.

Tried to charge, checked the cable, hard reset, power & sound+ buttons - nothing.

I also tried to charge it via desktop & notebook - system recognized than new device was connected, but no drivers were found, so I didn't see the tablet as USB or other new hard drive. Also when I tried to charge it via PC / notebook after pressing the power button the green light under the camera was blinked once.

What Model tablet? What type of power choices are there to power the tablet? Is the power unit that came with the device working? I have so many questions. But First - What model is it? Model Number? What tyoe of power does it have? USB to Mini-C?

That being said - press the power button once, then press it again and hold it for approx 5 seconds, release and press once more... What, if anything happens then?

machistmo, thanks for feedback.

model: TPT2 36795XU, manufactured 13/08

power choices: origin Lenovo cable USB to mini USB; cables of other manufactures; USB connection to desktop / notebook (USB to muni-USB with origin cable); don't have dock station

check the cable: yes, it works normal (checked with my smartphone)

press the power button once, then press it again and hold it for approx 5 seconds - nothing happened.

The µUSB connection is only for charging, so no drivers are needed.  The tablet is in itself a Windows PC, and you are not supposed to see it as a tablet, you can connect to your desktop or laptop.

When you see the green light under the camera, you should leave the tablet, and it should start in some seconds. The first time, it can take a bit of time. You can help the start if the Tablet is connected to a power outlet, but it has to be the original power supply and cable..

Ok so if you use the charging block and cable that came with the tablet, what happens? You need a 2+ Amp Charging nugget to get the tablet to charge once it is below a certian percentage.  I suspect that connecting it to the Laptop or Desktop does not provide the current needed to charge the device.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet2 and when it is below 6% charge it will not charge in the dock.  I suspect because the dock has a lower total Amp output compared to the nugget.  In any event, try the nugget from the wall straight to the tablet.

OK, didn't know that, thought it should somehow be recognized by PC at least to synchronize the data between TPT2 and PC / notebook.

green light blinks only in case of TPT connects with PC and after I press the power button. But anyway nothing such :( 5-10-20 second, several minutes - didn't start

that's exactly what I do - original Lenovo cable & charging block, I don't have dock station.

when I try to charge it via cable - nothing at all happens, charging via PC - green light blinks when I press power button.

Look at it this way: The TPT2 is a PC! If you want to syncronize one PC with another PC you wold not, I suppose; connect them USB to USB? You have to use a WIFI connetion, a USB drive, bluetooth or other file transfer methods that is usable between two PCs / notebooks.

Try another charging block that is at least 2 amps.  IE an iPad (not iPhone) block or something that puts out at least 2.1 Amps.

Once you get it connected, give it say 45 minutes to charge and then try to power it up while it is still connected to power.
