OTA3-US reactions?

2012-06-26, 5:10 AM

Just got ICS as of 1am ET. my quick reactions:

* beautiful. love the new font in particular. icons look less boxy (esp back/home/menu)

* responsive. apps seem to load quickly rather than sitting there for a bit

* CHROME. been waiting for this.

now if Flipboard would just make a tablet version for Android we'd be all set

I'm at  34% download at 2314 hrs 25JUN2012.  I'll reply after my first big meeting in the morning.  That'll be the big test...I'll take paper and pen just in case. :smileyhappy:

So far, so good.  Updated OTA3 with no problem.

LOVE the pen only function.  After having used Motion Computing tablets (WACOM) for several years, the pen-only option is very welcome and I'm much more comfortable using the pen now.  The pen input panel should be configured to allow both numbers and letters simultaneously though...

GPS seems as dead as ever.  What *is* the problem?  If it's the hardware, Lenovo, tell us what's wrong.  Specifically.  Is board level rework needed?  What part(s)?  What value?  Just tell us.

If it matters, I think the Quadrant score has increased.

The history of what apps are using the most battery life is missing.

Update went without a hitch.......checked most of my applications, GPS....everything was fine. Turned off the unit thinking everything was fine. Now, when I turn on the tablet my WiFi will not turn on! This may be the straw that broke the camel's back!!!! After waiting patiently for ICS......this is what I get??!?!?!?!?!?

I spoke to soon about come. It's a mess, frequentlyccrashing and getting stuck in endless reloads. On the bright side, FlexT9 now works the way it should without being laggy!

My tablet works wonderfully, no force closes or lagginess... admitedly I have not tried the GPS yet, but I don't hold out much hope for that one.  Everything else works faster and smoother than before.  I am going to try hooking up an NTFS jump drive, and an NTFS large HD via USB to see if they updated that to work without root and extra apps.  Otherwise, I love it...only downside is that it overwrote the system sounds directories, so all my custom noises have to be recopied..but this was not unexpected and was quite easy to remedy.

All went well without a hitch! All working great, except restart from hibernation very laggy! (more than before update)

ICS installed itself automatically this morning. No problems. Seems much quicker and smoother.

Notes is amazing now. When I clicked with my stylus it offered to turn on pen-only, which I accepted. I wrote about 10 lines in my hasty note-taking script and it was PERFECT. This is truly a fast accurate way to take notes now.

In case you don't know that ICS allows grouping apps into folders, be sure to try it. I tested on the games apps incase I made a mistake - just drage one icon on top of another and they are now in a clickable folder. With the folder open you can give it a title. Makes the screen a lot neater.

Just to be clear, I was using the option for Notes to convert my script to digitized text.
