Re: OTA3 upgrade issue - non rooted users only

2012-06-27, 18:06 PM

Non rooted ROW tablet, 16Gb, 3G version, build ThinkPadTablet_A310_02_0039_0089_ROW.

Normal update fails, tried factory reset with no luck.

Manual update via recovery menu fails with message: Verifying current system... assert failed: apply_patch_check("system/app/notesmobile_len-oem.apk", "40........

Not happy!

So is there any progress on this? Do I need to call the Lenovo support and replace my tablet or what do I do to get the update installed? Is anyone from Lenovo actually monitoring the forum?

Seeing that we don't even get an acknowledgement from Lenovo support people (which by the way just convinced me not to touch another lenovo product ever again) I took the matters into my own hands and solved my update problem. To do it, I had to root my tablet, install CWM on it and then modify the installation script inside the official Lenovo update zip file to remove the verification steps that caused it to fail. Sounds complicated by it wasn't that hard. If someone else gets tired of waiting and wants to go the same route I can give detailed steps, just reply to my post.

BTW, it's really worth applying the OTA3 upgrade.

Unable to upgrade OTA.

Current build: A310_02_0039_0089_US

As of today it is back to factory settings with only my core suite redownloaded.

Error messages have been many and varied.  Most recent error message is:

Assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/phone.apk".  "2374606e96ed46d5f1a7d8e29c5885d40a292438". "835f61b9488534b62abe6b198acc/79ff3cc44862")

E: Error in /cache/update.zip

(status 7)

I'm pretty frustrated with this.  This is my first Android device, and I'd like to be able to uprgrade to the newer version of the OS.  Is there anyone who can help me to update?  I've tried the troubleshooting I could find on the forums, and have done everything suggested short of rooting (which I'm not comfortable doing at this point).

I personally would love to have a thread detailing how to install the update on a rooted tablet. Lenovo has completely failed to give basic support to this product. The brand is dead, we all got swindled on a cheap Chinese piece of crap, I hope everyone here has learned a lesson... caveat emptor.

There are plenty of places to go where you can learn how to update to ICS on a rooted tablet.  Let me suggest http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1433 and http://www.thinkpadtabletforums.com/thinkpad-tablet-root-hacks-mods-and-development/

1.) ThinkPadTablet_A310_02_0037_0076_WE

2.) After my TPT came back from the Service Center for Repair (mainboard replaced), i tried the upgrade and get the same failure like the other user here. On my Error-Screen was displayed the file ""/system/lib/libbcc.so" as failure reason.

What should i do?
