Optical Trackpoint driver

2013-12-16, 21:19 PM

I am running Win8.1 on a TPT2. Every so often, I get a systray popup informing me that there is a new driver available. When I look at the message, it says there is a new Optical Trackpoint driver available (geq107ww.exe) to install.

I have tried to install it several times, but I guess it fails somewhere. When I go to Computer Management, under "Mice and other pointing devices", I see my MS Wedge touch mouse and a couple of HID-compliant mouse entries; I do not see anything described as Optical Trackpoint. If I could find it, I could manually install the new driver.

Where is it? Can I pause the DOS window during the install to see if there are errors there? Or is there a log file somewhere?

Lolptical trackpoint

2017-04-20, 15:15 PM

The funny thing is that the link in the notification is a dead one, and it insists on popping up all the time even though the application is totally up to date. I guess it's a reflection of the overall broken state of the "ThinkPad Optical Trackpoint" system overall. Highly disappointing.
