Programming for stylus input.

I noticed that the stylus does not work with ipads at all.  I suppose it must use a separate tech besides the finger touch stuff?  That means I should be able to program an app that recognizes stylus input separately from touch input, yes?

I am an experienced student of java, but am new to the android platform.  I've been looking through some sample code provided with the SDK, but I haven't seen anything that really addresses the stylus.

If anyone could direct me toward some manuals or sample code addressing handling different input methods simultaneously, and applying different actions dependent upon the method of input, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you.
