They're abandoning the android customers...what a blow from behind to loyal lenovo buyers...

I'm not a lawyer but a 2-day-grace-period seems to me kind of contra bonos mores...

As far as I can see, Mobihands, the store partner, announced the cease of operation prior to 6 September! Why did it take two - 2 - weeks to let us know?

All,

 

We've sent actually 2 versions of the email... we did proactively notify all customers that registered with the app store.  The letter  posted above aligns with what I shared at the start of this thread and was the message received by the majority of customers.  A subset of customers received a version with additional advisories that would relate to certain apps from the store - see the last Q & A pair on the link above.

 

I agree it would be best if we could have provided additional lead time on this.

I've just contacted mobi sytems (the Office Suite Pro developers) about transferring the license that I bought from Lenovo and this is the response. 

 

"Darren,

 

I talked to my VP of Sales and Support and he indicates that this is a Lenovo issue. It will be up to them to be able to work out how to do that transfer.

So he advises that you talk to a supervisor in their group to get that answer. There are a great many Lenovo owners out there and a plan should be in place for you users more so than just saying you now need to buy from GooglePlay.

I would image that this will be a fairly standard response from developers.


So my question to Lenovo is:  Are you going to transfer the app license to Google Play or can you please refund me the NZ$18.42 that it will cost me to buy it on Google Play?

With Myscript Notes Mobile as well,

So sounds like no more updates for that application either, unless there is the chance that Lenovo is not abandoning us.

Well Mark, i'm a registered user of the app shop and i've recieved nothing from Lenovo indicating or advising that the app shop will be stopped. not to mention that recieving such an email 2 days before the scheduled date of service termination would have been enough insult. Can you please explain to us how is this legal at all or even ethical. As consumers we have the right to access goods paid for, and bought from your app shop and under your name. As consumers we have the right to uninterrupted use , which means features that we bought the device with has to be legally maintained and can not be removed without consent. The app shop is a feature i bought the device with and i sure didn't consent to it being removed.

Can you please clarify exactly when? Does this mean end of business or midnight Thursday or Friday? With such short notice, it would be good to know.

I too only received one email from Lenovo and that was today.  Fortunately, I never used the Lenovo App Shop for anything except to update app that came with my TPT.

 

IMO - Lenovo needs to provide an update to remove this now useless app from the TPT

 

Also, I fear that this is a startinga slow death spiral for support from Lenovo for the TPT

 

IMO - The resale value for the TPT is now worthless as it sits unless opens up the source code
