It may not be much of help here but it is interesting to know that the TPT 1 has a similar problem. We got the answer:

"We are not investigating this issue.  We cannot guarantee the behavior of the passive HDMI->VGA adapter.  It is not Lenovo's fault that some of the adapters work and others don't."

OK. I think that will be the answer to this problem. Anyway, I'll just focus on the USB issue, see what they got to say.

Just found the USB issue is already marked as solved: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-slate-tablets/TPT2-has-USB-port-power-issue/td-p/976155/page/30

Your post is incorrect and very misleading;  Lenovo never offered any such adapter for the TPT1 as they do for the TPT2. The post refers to passive adapters from third party manufacturers being used with the TPT1.

The current adapters offered by Lenovo, according to the accessories compatability guide, are also NOT compatible with the TPT1.

Please conduct proper research before posting to ensure it's accuracy and not to misinform or mislead others.

Sorry, I don't want to misinform or mislead others, but imho the op is about those mini-hdmi-to-vga adapters and not about the proprietary Lenovo dock-to-VGA cable.

Update: Lenovo now offers their own brand mini-HDMI to vga adapter (part number 0B47069). It is listed to work with TPT2.

I ordered one but the waiting time is 4 weeks.

Re: TPT2 Mini HDMI to VGA causing tablet to crash

I've had no luck with this either. The VGA adapter requires power from the tablet; it appears as though the tablet isn't providing sufficient power.

The VGA adapter that connects to the docking port works brilliantly, however. But it disables the USB port (I'm assuming because it needs its power). It also, for whatever reason, disables screen rotation on the main screen. (Perhaps both are related to the fact that it uses the docking connector.)

In any case, the best solution seems to be the VGA to docking connector adapter.

The screen rotation appears to be a result of hooking a second monitor up, not of the docking station or docking station connector. If I lock the screen upside down and put the tablet in the dock, the screen stays upside down. If I connect a second monitor, no matter how I do it (HDMI through dock, mini HDMI on tablet, VGA through adapter) the tablet display is forced to normal orientation. If the second monitor is an extended desktop, *IT* can be rotated. New guess: a "feature" of the Intel graphics adapter.

Hi, PaulJ333, do you mean 0B47069 is not working either?

This adapter is listed as an accessory when configuring the TPT2.

Re: TPT2 Mini HDMI to VGA causing tablet to crash

I have not tried that adapter. I doubt that it would work, but I'd love to be wrong about that!

I have one that looks similar that works with the dock HDMI but not with the mini HDMI on the tablet (when connected through an adapter, of course).

Has anyone bought one of these? Does it work with the tablet alone?
