TPT2 can't run a monitor or projector with VGA adapter

2013-01-18, 7:22 AM

I have had enough! I can't run a monitor from the TP2 or a projector with the VGA adapter to run a presentation. I can with my other Atom tablets. This device should be sold as a competitor to RT devices and not Windows 8. If I had more patience I would look into a class action lawsuit but not worth my time. I bought the TP2 to use for business and that clearly is not possible so I will go with a competing product. I am done with Lenovo and their games. My company will stop purchasing Lenovo products as well. Why don't they just admit that these problems can't be fixed and throw in the towel. They might as well kill the Helix right now before it is released. Who wants to lug around a 4lb. Hybrid anyway.

Hang on a minute! Are you saying I can't plug this into a projector to run a PowerPoint presentation or run an external monitor ??????

Hell even my iPad can do this!!!!

If this is really the case my November order will be cancelled and I'm going somewhere else. That's a real shame, I've been so keen for this tablet.

Can someone please confirm these statements so I can make a decision.  Thanks everyone.

So are you using the original Lenovo adapter?

Wait, what? This would absolutely be a dealbreaker if true. Is this the case even when using the dock?

Everything works fine with the desktop dock. I am having problems while trying to connect the TP2 directly to a monitor. Either through hdmi or the Lenovo vga adapter I can't get stability with the connection. I think Lenovo sev erely underpowered this tablet. I have tried with a few projectors and no go. Would work fine with the desktop dock, but I am not interested in carrying around the desktop dock with me everywhere I go. Hope you guys have better luck than me. I am returning my second TP2 and looking for another option. Good luck to everyone that tries to ride this out. I don't think Lenovo has any answers.

if u are returning ur tpt2 are u thinking of possibly selling your dock? I couldn't find the dock in stock anywhere and I am desperately waiting for one so I could use my external monitor

Thanks for your response. That's really unfortunate, but I appreciate knowing that it at least works with the dock--that's where I most need the capability to drive an external monitor.

I tried my tablet with just the Mini-HDMI and it worked fine. Both as duplicating and as a second monitor. No need for a dock.

did u try using an extended period of time while playing music in the background(say itunes, spotify or pandora or iheartradio)? when there is audio playing back on mine while on external monitor, the audio breakup and computer slow to a crowl and graphics glitches all come in.

its fine when i connect to monitor for the first few minutes, but after 30 minutes its guranteed to slow to almost unusable speed
