Re: TPT2 has USB port power issue

Well, finally some quantitative results.

@ScuffR

When did anybody propose this?:

"It was a bit condescending to propagate the idea that all the other OEMs could not read the USB specs and have produced crappy devices that only worked because everybody else was just as incompetent and all this incompetence luckily worked out better than the one and only true and honest manufacturer whos brilliance and perfection is just not honored by these ignorant customers".

It is good that manufacturers overspec their ports, but up until some actually quoted currents and device models, it was real hard to ascertain whether the TFT2 provided the minimum spec, which is a valid expectation of ANY customer in the absence of published device specs to the contrary.

I certainly have no loyalty to Lenovo. The TFT2 just looked like a nice device that wasn't too big and with good battery life, but unless it can provide a standard port's current, I'm not sure I can even use it with my Stingray oscilloscope or Livescribe pen, the latter being an essential requirement for me. Without that guarantee, it is off my shortlist.

Patanjali, sorry when I missunderstood your sentence, "Up until now, I have not seen someone prove (taking what they have written as fact) that the TPT2 is NOT within a standard USB port spec"  as an expression of disbelief that people really have the problem they reported, since there already were several different devices mentioned that did not work with this other one.

Just from a probabilistic view and assuming that people who want to use the TPT2 professionally or even test a bunch of different devices might be aware that USB only is meant to supply a limited current, I thought it most likely that there is rather one dodgy new device than a bunch of well established but "buggy" ones.

So sorry if I did you wrong!

Just got another desktop and both that I have had will not run my Dell 24" monitor at 1920x1080 resolution through the HDMI port. It pushes the Windows desktop farther than the borders of the display so that I can't see my Windows taskbar. Anyone else notice this. All of my external hard drives and dvd burners work through the desktop dock like normal. Still doesn't fix the USB port issue though.

I have had similar issues on other PCs using the HDMI to a TV, not a monitor.  The solution for that was actually found in the TV settings menu using the TV remote.  There were options to +/- the display area vertically and horizontally to fit the PC image on the screen.  Hope that is helpful.

I suspect that this was an intentional design and will never be amended. They want you to buy a dock.

Guess its time to return the TPT2. Its the only tablet with this limitation.  Might go with the competitors tablet.
