The price is too high and the launch is too late for the ThinkPad 10.

At computex, Intel announced Core M, also known as Broadwell Y. It will be inside of fanless tablet and 2-in-1 devices before the end of this year. They'll start around $600.

Something like the ASUS T300 Chi, which is based off of Intel's 12.5-inch Llama Mountain reference tablet, will start around $800.

ASUS T300 Chi specifications:

  • Intel Core M
  • Windows 8.1 / Windows 8.1 Pro
  • 12.5" 2560 x 1480 display
  • 2GB or 4GB LPDDR3 1600
  • iSSD internal storage
  • Optional 4G LTE
  • Included keyboard dock

Llama Mountain 12.5-inch model:

  • 7.2 mm thick
  • 1.4 lbs in weight

Llama Mountain 10-inch model:

  • 6.8 mm thick
  • 1.2 lbs

That's interesting. Though specs aren't everything. A 12.5" tablet is far larger than anything I'd want to use and 2560 x 1480 resolution isn't particularly useful in Windows desktop mode, especially with Windows 8.1's current DPI limitations. I'd much rather have a Lenovo Think product than a cheap Asus with higher specs. Asus is a good value, but the quality is not the same as a Think product and Asus customer support and service is the worst in the business. I'll pass on that.

Sorry North01, but for some of us the Asus T300 Chi is just another expensive chopping board without a pressure-sensitive digitiser.

It looks as though that model has been withdrawn. The Dock for the new Helix2 model is marked as being compatible with the ThinkPad 10 in the Lenovo Compatability Matrix. See this post for details:
