Thinkpad 8 display issue?

2014-02-28, 16:06 PM

Hi, I received my TP8 device yesterday. Everything works great except the display which is slightly dim at one corner of the screen. I was suspected about moisture under screen, however after 1 day it didn't disapear. Dead pixel test shots are attached. As you see top right corner is dimmer than the overal screen. Any suggestion?

this is a faulty LCD panel, either due to uneven pressure, or that the touch layer and the LCD are not attached evenly. Just do a DOA and request refund or return.

It seems like normal variance in backlighting on any modern LCD display if you ask me. The real question is, what do you see in normal usage? There are plenty of tests that can highlight deficiencies in products under abnormal circumstances, but if they don't affect what you do daily, then what does it matter? If you need to look at solid, static colors on this tablet all day, then not only will this one probably not work for you, I doubt any modern LCD will suffice that isn't carefully picked and paid a premium for.

No, it is not normal. Flat design of Windows 8 makes display defects noticable. In my case, this defect appears as a smudge on charms bar which has a solid color.
Anyway, I returned my device because of this issue in display and the well known speaker problem.
