Thinkpad Helix mobile broadband

2015-12-21, 22:20 PM

I've got a problem and I'd like some help.  I have an original Thinkpad Helix updated to Windows 10.  I just got a data SIM from Project Fi (runs on TMobile network in midwest USA) and would like to get this running.  I've talked with Google and determined the problem is on my end.  So I've tried:

reinstalling the drivers

running Lenovo Update

triple checking APN settings

What I've figured out is I need to activate the card before it will work.  I downloaded Lenovo Broadband Activation but its made for Windows 7 and when run it said there was no hardware available.  I tried Lenovo Access Connections, it saw ATT and "US" but couldn't connect to either.  I tried putting in the APN through there but that didn't work either.

So I called Lenovo support and was told that the card was bad. But I'm not sure that is true since the card shows active in Device manager and wireless settings through the tray.  I'm thinking that perhaps its just the activation process that hasn't happened?

Does anyone have any ideas?

I was facing exactly the same problem since upgrading the Helix generation 1 to Windows 10: the mobile broadband icon was greyed out and there was not possible to use the SIM card. Then, yesterday was a big Windows 10 update and all of the sudden, the mobile broadband is working! I have looked in the update history but it were only some MS Office updates there so no clue what had happened. Basically I do not mind, finaly MS has fixed the issue. Amen!
