Thinkpad Tab 10 gen2 - Legacy bios ?

2019-05-18, 11:07 AM

Dear all,

I have a Thinkpad Tab 10 gen2 with Windows 10 64 bits OS.

I would like to switch to a 32 bits OS in order to use specific softwares which do not work in 64 bits OS.

I've tried to make USB boot key with 32 bits OS (XP / win 7/8/10) but tablet ignore it :(

Reason could be than bios is not in legacy mode.

I can't find this option in bios.

Do you know if it's possible to it?

Tks for your help.

nico

Hi Dagostix! Welcome to our forums community. You need to perform clean install so you can install the Windows 10 32 bit. Regards

Hi Jwes,

It's exactly what I'm trying to do: format the tablet in order to install a Windows 32 bits version.

Do you think I can install an older version of Windows than Windows 10 ?

I need to install Windows XP or Windows 7.

I know that it's not a good idea since there is no more updates for these systems but my idea is to make a dual boot (XP or 7 without internet connection - Win 10 as 2nd boot with internet / antivirus...).

Tks for your help.

Thinkpad Tab 10 gen2 - Legacy bios ?

2019-05-21, 17:07 PM

Hello Dagostix, Thanks for writing back. Looking at the BIOS & drivers of the Thinkpad 10 2nd Gen, there's no options for Legacy Boot and Drivers for Win7 so although you may be able to boot the Windows 7 installer via UEFI, you won't be able to get this up and running due to missing drivers and lack of Compatibility Support Module (CSM) support.

Here's the link to the BIOS Simulator:

Let me know if you have questions. Thanks.
