Thinkpad Tablet 2 Wifi Issue

2013-01-04, 1:42 AM

Has anyone had issues getting on to wireless networks that use WPA2-Personal security?  We are evaluating them for our environment and have had issues getting them to connect to our access points.  They connect ok my verizon mifi and connect ok at home.  I was able to connect once to our access point here but after rebooting I lost it again and can never connect again.  Every other laptop and smartphone in our environment connects just fine to our access points.  Thanks for any help.

Check the profile properties.  Is everything being detected correctly according to your network configuration?  E.g. WPA vs WPA2, AES vs TKIP.  If the properties are not being detected correctly on the tablet, can you manually change them?

I'm having similar issues with our ThinkPad Tablet 2's. The SSID requires WPA2-PSK with AES encryption, I can connect using my T520 running Windows 8 but not my ThinkPad Tablet 2. By chance, does your key used some capital letter or symbols?

Thanks for the reply.  I actually went in and manually created the connection.  We are using WPA2 with AES and it shows up correctly when I go to the Wireless Network Properties.  The connection and security tabs are identical to all of our Windows 7 machines and other Windows 8 systems that we are testing.  Looked at updating the wifi driver but shows we have the latest version.  Thanks for the help.

What happens if you let Windows detect the network settings automatically (and prompt you for authentication), instead of manually creating the connection?  Not that it should make any difference, I just looking for more info on what the problem could be...

I am having WIFI issues also.  It seems to be range.  I am getting about 15 foot from an AP before it drops.  I have several brands.  The ubiquity is completely open.  The Cisco is mac address filtered..   Cannot get a good connection.

I tried that when I first logged on to the tablet.  It never connects.  I just get an error stating connection failed.

I solved my issue. It appears that the Wireless NIC only supports TKIP encryption and not AES.

rgdaoust, not true. Take a look at this Broadcom spec sheet https://www.bluetooth.org/tpg/RefNotes/4330-PB10X-R1.pdf On the second page look at the key features.
