Re: Thinkpad Tablet 2 Wifi Issue

I ran into the same problem with WiFi performance (and the serial number issue) after I had the machine serviced on-site. A second visit from on-site did not fix the problem did not fix the problem. You need to get in touch with service.

Re: Thinkpad Tablet 2 Wifi Issue

Hi,

I think I am actually having a separate issue to you guys with the signal strength issue.

We have currently got 2 Lenovo Thinkpad 2 Tablets Type: 3679-4EM (with 3G) and we have installed windows 8.1 on both of them.

They were working with wireless on Win 8.

After installing Windows 8.1 and then adding the Both Tablets to our Domain they would connect to our wireless successfully and signal strength is acceptable etc.

However when we restart the tablet, The wireless network category and the list of wireless networks and 3G networks are no longer visible in the Windows 8.1 "Networks" menu.

I can temporarily get the wireless working again if I uninstall the Wireless Driver in Device Manager and then "Scan for Hardware changes" (which installs the driver again). But after the restart, the Wireless category and all connections disappear again.

Have you tried the older driver, version 5.93.97.83? I have found that it resolves the problems I had with the .113 driver.

Yes, I have rolled back to 5.93.97.83 and both laptops still lose wireless after a restart.

I too am having the same issues downloading and installing apps from any app store. No matter which internet I am connecting to, I get the message my connection is too slow. Is there a fix for this?

Re: Thinkpad Tablet 2 Wifi Issue

Hi Mark,

I have a unit displaying this problem (early production run January 2013).  I am getting the runaround by service in Belgium, who do not recognise anything is wrong.  I can see there is  a real problem, since the unit has come back with OS reinstall, and as soon as I proceed with the setup, I see the very weak connectivity in the 2.4ghz band (same router has 2 networks - 5ghz and 2.4ghz) even when about  4 meters away.

Problem record in global support is

62401DJH4T‏.

... if that helps

Not sure what else to do, as support here won't believe me.

Re: Thinkpad Tablet 2 Wifi Issue

I seem to have a similar issue to this lenovo service bulletin.

The tablet works fine at home as far as I've seen.  At work, sometimes it connects, sometimes it has issues.  The encryption is WPA2-Enterprise.  I don't have control over firmware on the work routers, obviously, so the only other solution recommended is to use a windows 7 driver.  Is there a windows 7 driver that I can try to see if it resolves the problem?  I've not been able to locate one.  A previous post said that they were using the .83 version of the driver that seemed to fix their problems, is there a location where I can obtain the .83 version?

The behavior of the tablet when it's not working is that the adapter seems to just be locked up.  I can't enable or disable the adapter and there are no networks listed in the available network list, even though there is typically at least 3 different networks broadcasting at work.  I tried to turn on wifi windows logging, but have not detected anything abnormal in the log to reference.

My tablet is new, I've had it for about 3 weeks. I could still return it without penalty and if wifi doesn't function at work, that may be what I end up doing.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Thinkpad Tablet 2 Wifi Issue

By the Way, I have just discovered that the Sophos Anti-Virus Service is what is blocking my wireless from running on our Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2's. But only the specific Type No. 3679-4EM.

Now I just need to discover how to add an exception so that the Antivirus stops blocking it.

I created and Exception for C:\Windows\System32\drivers But no luck so far...
