I tried accessing our office wireless with the new Dell Win 8 tablet with the same wireless chipset as the ThinkPad 2, and was also not able to connect to our Cisco APs.

My TPT2's wireless connection isn't bad.  The signal quality is comparable to my iPad mini.  I'm using the Asus n66u router, no encryption.  I'm using a custom firmware (Tomato) that allows me to monitor signal quality and transfer rates.

Looks like poor wifi reception is not a single case. Any fix? Or we have to return it.

Re: Thinkpad Tablet 2 Wifi Issue

Just opened the box. Not only is there a "burn in" type of line glowing on the bottom leftward side of screen but I too cannot seem to connect to WiFi on home router. I have a Microsoft Surface RT and  Samsung Series 7 slate running w8 pro all have full bars everywhere in my house. This antenna is so weak its unusable. I am in the living room 5 feet and show only 2 bars. I am on hold with tech support as I type. I will Exchange this ONE TIME ONLY. I cannot believe this screen looks that bad and I have to "spoon" with the router to get online. This machine has been buggy and slow to process from the get go. I also got all the accessories you can imagine so a return will be painful. If the replacement is also this difficult, I am getting the  Samsung Ativ Smart Tablet. The series 7 is solid, except for the fan as it runs on Intel core i5 and only about 4 hours battery. Lenovo is better than this. I know because I have used Lenovo x series tablets on windows 7.

I am also having serious WiFi connectivity issues--range is dramatically worse than any other device I routinely use (including a Lenovo laptop, Nexus 7, iPhone 5, and Kindle Touch).

Clearly this is not an isolated issue--would like to hear from Lenovo staff what they are doing to isolate the problem and whether it can be solved with a driver update or if it is poor QC on the Broadcom chip.

Re: Thinkpad Tablet 2 Wifi Issue

I too am having a wi fi issue with my new ThinkPad Tablet 2 (Win 8 Pro). I am sitting in the same room as my router and very often the wi fi says "Limited Connection". It is hit-or-miss.

Also, perhaps associated with this issue (but maybe not), I am having major issues connecting to the Microsoft store. I cannot download an app, and then sometimes the store automatically closes on me as I'm trying to download something or when Store is trying to open. The strange thing is, when MS Store is trying to load or download an app and it is failing, I can access the internet just fine. So somehow I think these are separate issues.

Anyone else having the MS Store issue in addition to the internet / wi fi issue?

I have issues with the MS store, but I notice it is with very weak WiFi signal, but can still manage to pull a webpage up. Also, happens with Netflix. The red start screen seems very pixilated when loading as well. Tried every driver packet Lenovo lists but still not good video quality. Not sure about this tablet...they are sending me a replacement. I will post updates as a comparison between that one and this one.

Yes the Store had issues for me as well but it seems attirubted to poor WiFi signal...

I hope this is just a driver update fix.

For now I bought an Asus USB WiFi N Adapter lol.. I have to travel at the end of this month and wanted to use this... maybe a 3rd party WiFi adapter will get me through my trip.

I don't have any wifi performance issues with my Netgear Router at home. My only problem is it's inability to connect to my Cisco environment at work at all.

Just a thought, but if your problem is only related to your Cisco APs at work, it's possible the APs need to be upgraded to support Windows 8 (due to a Cisco bug in Management Frame Protection). Of course this is not specific to TPT2, so if other Win8 machines are working fine on the same Cisco APs then it's not the cause of your problem.
