Re: Thinkpad Tablet 2 Wifi Issue

I'm connecting to the Asus n66u router.  I installed a third party firmware, Shibby's Tomato (http://tomato.groov.pl/?page_id=164).  No connection problems and great range, even through multiple walls.

Re: Thinkpad Tablet 2 Wifi Issue

Same wi-fi issues here. Extremelly  slow wi-fi connection (1 - 5 Mbps) and two bars at best. T420 sitting next to my Tablet 2 shows all bars and 130MBps. A call to the customer support suggested to talk to my ISP to reboot my router, and when pushed a bit suggested to maybe return the device for repairs :-( I suspect that I've got one of the first batches as my machine type is 3679CTO with a Broadcom 802.11 abgn Wireless SDIO Adapter. The support site only shows drivers for other two kinds of WLAN adapters but not mine, which makes me beleive that my tablet might have a problematic adapter that was relaced in later models. This is very frustrating!

Rebooting the ISP's MODEM is a standard troubleshooting step, just remove power for about 15 seconds. Happens when you get a power cut anyway (unless it's on a UPS). Remove power from the wireless router afterwards to reboot that if the MODEM and router are separate devices.

I have a different model (368229U) but the same broadcom adapter, and have not had any wi-fi problems on my home network or on a public network.

Quick poll: How many people with wifi issues have the 3679-CTO model? This is definitely one of the first batches (CTO means "custom", although there's nothing custom in there - it's just the basic TPT2 with Digitizer & Pen).

I noticed that a couple of people who have stable connections are using dual band routers (including the testing engineers at Lenovo, I think). Are you using the 5 GHz band? What are your negotiated data speeds? What is your RSSI? I am currently using the 2.4 GHz band and having difficulty with this device. The other devices on the network have no problems. Thanks to anyone who has this info and have a good day.

Hm. My TPT2 is on its way back from service, for the wifi issue. Let's see if they actually fixed anything or they tested it with a router that would work either way.

mrenglishman,

I just replied to your PM from earlier (I'm a bit backlogged, so I apologize for the delay).   If you find the problem persists, perhaps we can have our engineer have look at your system?  This would allow us to test in the same environment as discussed by nine and lanogre...

Thanks!

Mark
