Thinkpad X1 Tablet : keyboard compatibilty between 1st Gen and 2nd Gen

Dear community,

 

I own a Gen1 X1 Tablet with a french keyboard and I am considering to buy oversea a Gen2 X1 Tablet.

 

As you can guess, I plan to use my Gen1 thin keyboard on the Gen2 X1 Tablet. Unfortunately I was not able to find a confirmation of the keyboard compatibility on this forum or on Lenovo's website.

 

I saw pictures of sells on ebay and the two keyboards look physically the same, but it will help me sleep better after my order if someone could confirm that the two keyboards are compatible Smiley Happy

Hi DMac1! Welcome to our forums community. The part numbers are not the same. The keyboard of the 2nd gen is soldered on the upper case of the laptop while the 1st gen is not. You can refer to the link and photo below.
