Heard back from Lenovo. Obviously they did not end up charging me for the repair. They finished the repair just now and will send it to me soon.
I have no idea what exactly the repair was at thisoment. Will keep track of it, and will report here soon

Can you PM me the Lenovo case ID? I will ask Lenovo to intercept the screen for further analysis. Mine will be replaced tomorrow, and saved for further analysis as well ..

Is this a problem with all X1 3g tablets that have and will be produced, or is this a quality control issue that affects a few at random? It's very unclear since I'm guessing they sell very few of them.

Nothing is clear yet at this point. I just managed to get my Lenovo SPOC interested in the issue. Further investigation of my screen will now have to bring more insight .

Same problem here. I've had my x1 tablet for only one week and I already have two small scratches! This is a ridiculous issue, especially since aren't ThinkPads supposed to be tougher?

Could everyone who is suffering from this issue please do the following:
List how you clean the screen, what type of cloth you use and (if any) what product you use?
List where the scuffs become visible and (try to) determine whether that's an area with either:
- a disproportionally high degree of touching (such as gaming, scrolling or tapping etc)
- a disproportionally high degree of stylus contact (such as drawing, taking notes etc)
- No differentiation between various types of use
I am really interested in trying to determine whether this phenomenon is due to chemical or physical wear ...
