YouTube 3.5.5 update from Lenovo app shop....parsing error

2012-03-02, 15:33 PM
As some of you have already mentioned, the app shop says there is an update for YouTube, but downloading it from the app shop always results in a parsing error. So, had anyone successfully installed this update? And, does anyone have a way around the Lenovo app shop to get it? Thanks.

Youtube 3.5.5 is for Honeycomb >= v3.2

from decompiled apk

AndroidManifest.xml -> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="13" />

http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/api-levels.html

api-level 13 ->   Honeycomb  v3.2

By the lack of responses I gather that this is not an uncommon problem, but that no one is even close to a workable solution....I mean, you are all doing what I am doing, which is periodically trying the app shop again hoping for different results......but alas, none........I will say this, once upon a time my phone did this to a different app and I was able to get around it by using its 3G instead of wifi...but as this is a wifi only tablet that I have.....

I have the same problem as you do and I did see another thread about it before, but they hadn't found a solution yet.  It is really annoying.

Gotcha! So, it won't install because that version is not meant for 3.1.x ....so there really isn't any problem with the file, three problem is with (wait for it) Lenovo's app shop trying to push out the wrong update....awesome.

If it has taken till March 13 for someone else to tell the software team, then we are in more trouble than we imagined.  This has been a problem for weeks.  In an APP (the Lenovo App store) that was and is marketed as Lenovo's curated selection of apps that are particularly good for and especially selected for use on the TPT--only to find they aren't even testing their selections, or reading the numbers on the label.
