physical keyboard issue

I have a keyboard attached to my Thinkpad and it has worked perfectly for 18 months.  however it now will not work when it is folded and magnetically connected but only when i flod it open and have it flat on the desk.  do i need to replace the keyboard?  or is this a software issue?

 

i have also found that when it is folded, my USBc drive doesnt work properly, so i think this could be software rather than hardware.  anyone else had this issue?

Could you share to us the machine type model(MTM) of your ThinkPad? You may also access safe mode to determine if the issue is software or hardware related.

Have you tried in safe mode if the issue will persist? You may also update the BIOS version of your device directly from our support website.
