thinkpad 1839 update

I was trying to update my tablet and the update didn't work so I downloaded the different zip files and ran the one I need but it did't work.  I noticed that my build number is

bladencs_A310_02_0037_0001_US

All of the updates to download start with Thinkpadtablet_***********

How do I get the proper updates?

Thanks.

Re: thinkpad 1839 update

Are you currently running Android™ 3.1 (HoneyComb) and wanting to update to Ice Cream Sandwich? I searched the Knowledgebased articles and found this information on updating to ICS.

First, you need to download the official ICS update for Thinkpad Tablet on the Lenovo website.

After download is complete, rename the file to update.zip and copy it to the root of your sdcard.

Switch off the device and then reboot into bootloader mode.

(To get into the Bootloader mode, hold Volume up button and the Power button together.)

Use the Volume key to navagate and select Recovery from the menu to boot into recovery,

press the Power button to confirm.

When you see the warning triangle and arrow, hold the power button and tap volume up. You’ll see a menu.

Select “Apply update from /sdcard” and select the update.zip file from the list.

Once the update is flashed, select “reboot system now” to reboot your device.

I hope this was the assitance you were looking for, please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for being a part of the Lenovo Family,

Catie

Re: thinkpad 1839 update

Yes I get the same exact error.   I have an 1839AD7 refurb just got from Tiger Direct.   Have same exact version and get the same exact error.    I wiped cache and I have tired the other images any of the images and get the same errors as described.   Any ideas?

Thanks,
Gary

Re: thinkpad 1839 update

Same build number here (shows model being an 1839AJ6) which was also bought thru Tigerdirect. I spent literally a few hours on the phone with support thru several calls and they were clueless, very frustrated at their lack of knowledge. The last guy finally asked someone and they said they don't have an update to 4.0. Does anyone know if that dowload is even the right update (to 4.0)?

Re: thinkpad 1839 update

Interesting, mine is also a refurb from Tigerdirect. I have called them after talking to Fast Asset, evidently the company that provides the refurbs. This is her response.

The unit is not upgradeable. Stylus not included with this unit. We can replace the charger if you want to keep the unit. Please contact Tiger Direct if you want to return the unit. Should you choose to return the unit, please provide Tiger Direct with Issue ID 76 .

Thank you

I can't believe that Lenovo can't tell us how to wipe it clean and reinstall.

Re: thinkpad 1839 update

Wow said it was upgradeable to OS 4.0 on their site before I bought.  Will return.   Thanks for the info

Re: thinkpad 1839 update

Disturbing about this, the product is no return only exchange, the website explicitly said upgrade to 4.0 possible.

Thanks for your info.

Re: thinkpad 1839 update

Thanks a bunch for the info, got Tiger Direct to admit they changed their web site and they agreed to take my tablet backand issue a refund. I used the information provided here. Thanks again, need a tablet with 4.0 or better.

Thanks,
Gary
