As you can see in this post: http://blogs.windows.com/windows/b/bloggingwindows/archive/2013/06/26/the-windows-8-1-preview-is-here.aspx

Please note: Some tablets and PCs running newer 32-bit Atom processors require updates to their graphics drivers before they can run the Windows 8.1 Preview. Those tablets and PCs include the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2, ASUS VivoTab TF810C, HP Envy X2, HP ElitePad 900, Samsung ATIV Smart PC, and Fujitsu ARROWS Tab. We are working closely with Intel and OEM partners to deliver updated drivers that will allow you to install the Windows 8.1 Preview as soon as possible.

did you update the display driver to version 1160? windows update should install it for you.

my experience with 8.1 preview is quite positive. so far, i don't have seen any problems with my TPT2. but this is only after moderate use for a few hours ...

i should add that i initially did a upgrade install from the store. after that, almost nothing windows related worked (skydrive won't sync, apps couldn't be updated, bluetooth was dead, aso). i then did a clean install using the iso. that did the trick: everything runs very smooth so far.

I have also noticed some issues when upgrading to 8.1. The main one being the start button not working with the stylus and some strange behavior with the case's magnetic sensor, it left on for long periods, I was unable to wake the tablet up from sleep and only a hard reboot would fix it.

I since then reverted back to 8.0, but I liked what I saw of the preview.

By the way, manually installing the display driver available on lenovo.com fixed any lag issues I had even before MS pushed the driver update in Windows Update.

I have the same problem with the case after upgrade to 8.1.

As soon as the case is closed it has the sleep problem which has been discussed here in the forum.

After the upgrade to 8.1 a generic video driver was used. The grapich performance was terrible. After updating to the current video driver the performance was okay again.

I also have the problem with the stylus and the home button on the desktop. It does not work

Thx

Axel

Regarding the stylus and start button issue, I tried everything I could think of short of a clean install. Even tried the generic Win 8 Wacom driver to no avail. No one on the Windows forum was able to provide a solution as of now either.

Did you perform an upgrade or was it a clean install?

Being back on 8.0, I'll monitor the situation about the cover/sleep issue.

I already miss 4 rows of live tiles on the start screen, the improved settings and smaller live tile size.

How did you do the clean install. I tried to use a bootable usb drive ( I did change the BIOS to start up with USB), but it didn't work. The tablet refused to boot with the USB.

use "rufus" (search for it on the net) to prepare your install drive (be sure to select uefi).

Thanks, I will try it. Did you use dock or just use the USB port on the tablet.
