Does it mean that the original Windows 8 has been overwritten while upgraded to Windows8.1?

As far as I'm aware, once the upgrade to Windows 8.1 is complete, then the recovery partition content is also upgraded to 8.1.

I don't know it that's true. However, I did the thing where you move the restore partition to a usb key, to free up space. I have yet to find instructions online for slipstreaming the key with the Windows 8.1 update.

Re: windows 8.1 tablet 2 issues

i think i have been lucky so far. after rolling back and reinstalling 3 times 8.1 is good.  i still get video driver error when i wake it up but not many and 99% of the time it sorts things out without needing a restart.  the email app won't close down and sometimes some apps wont start.  the only real pain is limited wifi connections a lot.

after install 8.1 i do the Lenovo updates and then the Micrsoft ones but nothing else because nothing else worked better. The tablet 2 is now very usable with 8.1 however not to the point that its worth the money it costs yet!!

on the last roll back i did find that the only restore available was 8.1 but then i did a reset though the Wndows settings option and it went back to 8.

Well, I've just created a new USB Recovery drive, and comparing it with the content of the old one created when I was running Windows 8.0 Pro, the new drive certainly has references to Windows 8.1 in it (e.g. the build number is 9600.16384). I suppose the definitive answer would be to restore my TPT2 to the factory settings and see. However, having got my TPT2 running satisfactorily, and with all my software installed, I don't really want to go back to square one again unless I really have to.

I too have issues with the video driver and it not wanting to wake back up.  I've even had the thing tell me it can't detect the internal battery while IT'S RUNNING OFF THE INTERNAL BATTERY.  This thing is just and I am very surprised at Lenovo's lake of care with these issues.  There's 7 of us in the field with these right now and each and everyone of us have issues with it, whether it be with the WiFi, it not wanting to turn on, whatever.  We use these maybe once a day for a grand total of 30 minutes.  They're not abused.  Mine sits on the corner of my desk plugged in 95% of the time, but whenever I have to use it, it gives me nothing but issues.

No relief...I have not seen or received any updates to resolve my issues:

- I still have video driver issues upon restart which are very annoying because there is no way to tell whether or not the power has been turned on when you come out of suspend mode. I pull my tablet out and have to fiddle with it for a few minutes. That defeats the purpose.

- my bluetooth is finicky also an issue with mobile tech. I need reliable on/off/on again.

- I keep getting sd_card_bus errors that blue screen the tablet.

Overall the tablet is the least reliable mobile tech that I have owned since my palm treo. Microsoft and Lenovo missed the mark...waste of my money. I went back to my ipad.

When you hit the button, wait. I figured this out today actually. I kept hitting the button and messing with it to turn it on I think I was just making it worse.

My bluetooth and wifi issues were solved once I update the drivers. My co-workers all complain about the wireless connectivity.

I'm disgusted by this whole thing, I'd actually like to use it, but everytime I do something goes wrong.

Something happened after the last BIOS update. It isn't as simple as "hit it and wait". Sometimes it just does nothing. I don't have time to waste anymore on bios updates, driver installation, starting/restarting, etc. that was fine 10 years ago. It is sub par and the worst mobile tech of any device that I have used I. Recent years. ..not interested in spending my time on this. If something goes wrong with my ipad (which is rare) I take it to apple and get a new one...no problems with start up. No problems with Bluetooth. Nice try Lenovo, but in 2013 stuff really needs to work consistently. This is a piece of junk.
