one more thing: if the module is really bad, John West at Memphis can replace it for you. John.west@memphis.ag

Yeah, I've emailed them.  They are going to replace it, no hassles.  Thank you!

Wow, I want to believe that my years long dream of having 64 GB in portable laptop is comming true. If only Lenovo would soon release the real W550 workstation with Broadwell (and not that castrated W550s...).

ThinkPad W520, i7-2820 CPU, 32GB RAM, NVidia Quadro 2000M 2GB GPU , mSATA Samsung Evo 840 1TB + 2x Samsung SSD EVO 840 1TB & Lenovo Helix i7 8GB RAM & ThinkPad W540, i7-4800MQ, 32 GB RAM, NVidia Quadro K1100M, OS on M.2 2242 Transcend MTS400 256GB + 2x Samsung SSD EVO 840 1TB

That article is brandnew, on PC World magazine: Want 32GB of RAM in your laptop or NUC? You can finally do it

ADMIN EDIT - Keeping this as the solution, but would also like to note Lenovo's official 16GB module release.

0 person found this solution to be helpful.

This helped me too

Re: 16GB SO-DIMMs work in X250

I guess we are a little too early for April fools.. but this looks promising.

I sent an email to USSales@memphis.ag with a few questions and it was bounced as a non-existent e-mail address.  Has anyone else contacted them with success?  It seems at least one user had a potentially bad SODIMM and they did not appear to have any issues contacting the distributor.

Also - thier compatibility pdf doc states:

Memphis Electronic Inc.:

"Generally supported processors:  NEW: 16GB SO-DIMMs (IMM2G64D3LSOD8AG-B15E) are compatible to any notebook/ultrabook based on the new 5th Gen Intel Broadwell processors with CPU codes i3/i5/i7-5xxxU!"

[boldface/underline added for emphasis]

"any" is a pretty broad and bold statement.  I hope this is all they say it is.  It would nice if a few additional folks could confirm success on an X250.

Thanks for all the info.  This has been a great forum and source for information.

When I was looking to get one of these I'M 16gb SO-DIMMs for my x250, 5th gen broadwells were not listed as compatible on their website. I guess I should've waited.

Hi Technobob,

I contacted the Admin and you are absolutely right, the ussales@memphis.ag was accidently turned off during the last maintenance. But it works again now. Optionally you can always use sales@memphis.ag or you directly go to info@intelligentmemory.com

On the statement "Generally supported processors:  NEW: 16GB SO-DIMMs (IMM2G64D3LSOD8AG-B15E) are compatible to any notebook/ultrabook based on the new 5th Gen Intel Broadwell processors with CPU codes i3/i5/i7-5xxxU" it is in fact the truth.

Listing ALL the Fujitsu Lifebooks, Lenovo Thinkpads, Dell Latitudes and E-models, HP Envy,/Elitebook/ZBook and others is almost impossible, because there are too many models with similar names but older CPU types.

The easiest way to state the compatibility is to go by the CPU model. If it is i3, i5 or i7 followed by "-5" and ending with "U", the 16GB modules will fit and work. For example i7-5600U, i5-5200U, i3-5010U and others.

X250 definitely works fine. I had lots of feedback from Lenovo dealers who upgraded the X250 successfully. Is there anything in particular you'd like to see? I can ask them to take some pictures.

Thank you, Bitkeeper - that fact that you are responding in a confident manner is good enough for me.  Thanks for offering pics though.  The memory seems to be out of stock at the moment anyway.

With the avaiabiliy of a 16Gb X250 - it really does remove my hesitations on this model.

Thanks again for all the info!

You are welcome. I already push Intelligent Memory to ship more modules. They said "early April", which is 2 weeks from now, but I am still positive that they deliver a few days earlier.
