2012: Detection error on SSD2 (M.2). Press ESC to continue.

2017-02-07, 21:55 PM

I have a X240 that is giving me 2012: Detection error on SSD2 (M.2). Press ESC to continue. Only thing it DOESN'T have a M2 installed in it. Is there something in the BIOS i can do? The BIOS is also up to date so thats out of the question, also its up to date on any other Lenovo update and windows updates.

Ok correcting my pervious statement ... The user did have a M2 mSATA drive ... removed it and all was well ... So now if just have to figure out if it was the cable, sister board, or the drive itself ...

Hello,

I don't have an X240 myself, but I'm wondering are there any M.2 cards installed in the X240 at all, like a WLAN or WWAN card?  If so, you might want to try carefully removing and re-plugging them back in, then plug the battery back in, power up the system and seeing what it now reports.

Hi, I have also have this problem :  Errreur 2012: Detection error on SSD2 (M.2)

But it happened first end of 2017, My notebook was then on guarantee and the disk was changed.

Now, one year after, it happened again... The guarantee is finished.

So I'm thinking of taking it off as I already have an SSD disk.  But I would think that the problem does not come from the ssd M2 but maybe from the connectors?
