WE ARE NOW ENTERING THE NINTH (thats the number nine) MONTH SINCE THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED.
AND THERE is STILL NO SOLUTION OFFERED.
LENOVO... IT WILL NOT AWAY BY JUST IGNORING THE PROBLEM~
(back to normal case usage)

Rised a support call via the IBM portal yesterday. Not had an email or any confirmation but today a new slim PSU arrived at work. It unfortunatly (and predicatably) has the same issues....

just a note, like other have said, this isnt necessarily related to the 90W adapter, in spite of the topic, i have the 65 stock one and having these issues, an adapter from an older thinkpad version, same wattage, exhibits the same issue, so it must be in the laptop
looking at the power line, its has a constant voltage around 220 +-~5v, older thinkpad running at the same time doesnt have this problem
it doesnt always happen when recharging
so what causes this? really need an official reply for AT LEAST A WORKAROUND

Has the jumpy touchpad when using the slim travel power supplies been fix?

After receiving my X220, I've also noticed the same problem. Only when using a 90w adapter, I get a "jumpy touchpad".Moderator edit: Matched Subject to content.

My warranty / support call is progressing. I've now had:
A new slim line PSU supplied
A new motherboard fitted
A new track/mouse pad installed
all to no avail...
I've included the details of this thread in the support call to - Also strangly I've never had an email or confirmation from IBM about any of the next actions etc...
So lets see what happens next!

Interesting that you still have the same symptoms after all those parts are replaced, and of course, assume you are using the latest drivers from Lenovo.
Checking on our status on this... agree it has been quite some time. I think there were some workarounds previously discussed of using non-lenovo versions of the synaptics drivers, with the limitations that some features weren't fully supported?
I'll try to have an answer on what we determined shortly.

With all due respect, an alternative driver that limits the functions is a poor and, in my opinion, unacceptable solution.
Especially for a PC in the $1000+ class.
As I (and may others) encounter no problems using the 60W adaptor, it would seem that the problem is not drivers or internal PC hardware but points to the 90W adaptor as being the problem.
It would be interesting to determine if the problem exists using an non-Lenovo (or clone) lab grade Linear Power supply capable of supplying at least 100W.
Just a thought.
