Hi Mark, I have just tested on my X220 (4291Y1E) it 's like night and day ! Thanks !!! I am trying it now on a tablet (4299Y1E).
At Work, I have hundred of them with very upset users that only have the travel charger !
You know I have created a support ticket with Lenovo support and the best they found, was to send me a new ultraslim charger via UPS. No contact, no email, no reply...
Thanks again Mark I will post again to let you know the results with the others X220/T

@blondophile - exactly the same thing happened to me. I ended up having my entire laptop replaced (mainboard, mouse etc...) unitll they insisted i sent the laptop back for "investigation" it was at that point that i declined to persue it any futher
@all - I've updated the trackpad now (after downgrading to Windows 7 just to do the flash ) I'll let you know how it goes. So far it's a bit weird because i've got out of the habit of using the trackpad when i'm plugged in.

I've compiled the info and included as a KB here - at the bottom of the KB is a rar file containing the img code, the reflash utility and the instructions (which I duplicated in the KB).
Please give this a try.
Appreciate the feedback after you update so I can make the directions a bit more clear as needed.

Mark: I have been watching this thread for some time as I was hoping to get a fix for this like everyone else. I decided to try the new patch you uploaded to see if it would work for me. Well sorry to say it does not. The touchpad is a bit better but not great. I installed the patch without any problems but with the 90W adapter plugged in the touchpad is mostly unusable. It is better than in the past but not good enough to real use.

I just applied the update and it seems to be working ok. I'm going to try to continue to use it to see if any issues pop-up. One thing I just remembered that I ABSOLUTELY hate about these "new" touchpads is the lack of separated mouse buttons. I like to rest my thumb on the left button but on these one-piece trackpads, that causes all sort of issues from unintentional zooming to side scrolling to erract pointer movement. Not to mention
doing attempting to do "click-drags". What was wrong with the separate buttons again? I think the phrase "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." really applies here. If other THINKPAD buyers are anything like me, they want FUNCTIONALITY and DURABILITY, not "bling". If we wanted "bling", we buy HP or some other shiny POS.

Just some feedback after using the update fora few weeks.
It seems to make a difference I've not found myself having to go back and get my external mouse from my bag when i've plugged in different places. The only thing is that I've not been away with work quiet so much so the Laptop hasn't been having quie the usage that it normally would.
Having said that on Friday i'm back at the clients where i recorded the video that's posted way back in this thread so I'll see what it looks like this time.
Thanks Mark for getting us the update & letting the forum people test it out.

I'm glad to see that there is now a fix available for my X220. Thats great. However, the whole point of having the adapter for me was to use it with the tips to charge all my devices. When I use it to charge my Blackberry tablet I get a similar effect where the touchscreen becomes unusable. Does anyone know if the new ultraslim adapters being sold have fixed this problem in the hardware so that they are usable with everything?
