About the warranty of X61 7673b56.

2009-04-09, 2:05 AM

I have a thinkpad X61 7673B56.  When I bought it, I checked online with the serial number and was told the warranty is 3yr.

However, today I checked again and found the warranty is only ONE YEAR.

The page at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4A9HCE still says that the 7673 comes with 3yr warranty.

Why is the warranty changed from 3yr to 1yr?

Thank you!

Who did you purchase the machine from? Warranty under certain situation can change, but if you bought it from Lenovo directly then it shouldn't change.

If you buy from a reseller then it may change according to the condition of purchase that was agreed upon between the reseller and Lenovo sometimes for some bulk purchase orders.

Also, when you bought the machine did you know you were getting three years warranty and not one year?

I didn't buy the laptop from lenovo directly, but from another person.  Before I bought it, he told me the serial number and I checked online to verify that the warranty is 3yr.

Today the power jack is broken.  So I need to contact the service to get a fix.  I checked the warranty online again and surprisedly found that the expiration date is 2009-09, not 2011-09 which I got 5 months ago!

This is not something i can sort out for you, only someone from Lenovo can help you out, as they have access to the exact transaction record.
