Re: All I can see is the wallpaper when coming back from screen saver..

I am using a X60 and have had this problem for a couple months now.  When I return to using my laptop after the screen saver has been running, or also if the laptop has been in hibernation mode, I will type in my password to restore the desktop, but instead of the desktop icons, etc. coming up as it should, the screen saver or hibernation screen disappears and all I get is my wallpaper with no icons or menu bar.  I can move the mouse icon around, but there is nothing to click obviously.  I end up having to restart my computer to get my desktop back.  To avoid the problem I have turned off my screen saver and hibernation modes, since this problem only occurs upon coming back from those modes.  Does anyone know why this happens and how I can fix this?

Thanks so much.

Sincerely,

Kirk

Kirk,

Could you give some specs about your laptop, most importantly , the graphics chip you have in your unit?

Re: All I can see is the wallpaper when coming back from screen saver..

Hello,

Here is some information on my laptop:

Operating System:          Windows XP* Professional, Service Pack 2 (5.1.2600) (Vista capable)

Graphics Chip:                Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile Report

Processor:                      Intel Core Duo T7200 @ 2.00 GHz

If there is any other information you need let me know.

Also, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but I did install Symantec Client Security a couple months ago.  I don't think this problem started upon installation of the program though.  But it has firewall stuff and other security things.  Could Symantec be interferring with the laptop?

Thanks!

Re: All I can see is the wallpaper when coming back from screen saver..

Im not bias toward any security solution, but Symantec Products have steered my mind in the direction for the worst after they had to make products compliant with XP, it just didnt offer the same level of compatability that they had on 98 and ME.

I would check the Lenovo Support site for an updated driver, if that can be done. If it cannot be done, remove symantec products at your own risk (unplug the internet and disable the wireless before doing so) and see if this clears the problem.
