Anyone running Windows 8 RTM on X220 (non tablet)?

I have some questions before I blast away Win7:

- Can you get multi touch working with the touchpad? What works - pinch, charms menu etc?

- Are the video drivers OK, or just use Win7 ones?

- Any other issues?

Thanks

Video appears to be fine, I have a "Base System Device" in device manager that doesnt go away.
But the big annoyance is the Lenovo beta ultranav touch drivers from this site wont work.

I think if I can get that figured out, it'll be just fine

I was able to install the touchpad drivers.

Select Settings (right bar)/More PC Settings (at bottom)
 Then go General/Advanced Startup/Restart Now/Troubleshoot/Advanced Options/Windows Startup Settings/Restart
As your PC is starting up be pressing F8 to get to the menu where you can choose to
 Disable driver signature enforcement

Then install the driver setup file and allow the unsigned drivers.

Reboot and it should be good

FINALLY no more palms causing the cursor to fly all over the screen!

There also seems to be a new driver out 2 days ago (15/08) - worth checking this one out

Im having an issue with high CPU usage on my X220 every so often (System).  Sits around 30-40%.  Won't go away until a reboot.

A search says drivers, and I've updated everything tonight...will see how I get on.

Re: Anyone running Windows 8 RTM on X220 (non tablet)?

Well, I am all up and running. I would say I have had quite a few issues compared to e.g. the Win7 RTM which was hassle free.

On the plus side:

- It is fast, although I have a 256GB Samsung SSD installed in my X220, which helps

- All my programs have worked so far, including fallout 3 which is a pig to run on anything.

- Graphics performance seems the same with out of the box drivers, no issues.

- Touch pad works OK with the beta drivers - scrolling is a little hit or miss, but you scroll, zoom etc in Metro which is nice

Negatives:

- I have 2 things unknown in device manage, base system device and unknown device.

- I had a nasty issue on my first build where explorer went into a crash loop and you could not do anything. This was supposed to be fixed in the developer preview. I had to rebuild.

- Metro doesn't work with proxy servers which is really bad. Basically half of Windows 8 doesn't work in the office.

My CPU utilisation has been OK so far.

As an aside, is there any reason to install the Lenovo power manager?

For me it turned out to be the Ricoh Media card driver that was causing high System CPU - uninstalled it and CPU usage is back to normal. Waiting for an update to the driver. (WiFi still sucks sometimes though- doesn't connect on resume.)

Wi-fi is very unreliable.
