Are SSD and RAM upgradeable on X Series laptops?

2019-04-06, 13:48 PM

This is my first time in here.

I am planning to buy a X series laptop.

I could see upgradability at the time of ordering.

However I want to know if I could upgrade SSD, RAM on this laptop at later date should I wish to do so?

I ask this because up until now I have been a user of Apple laptop and lately the RAM ect are only upgradable at the time of purchase as they are soldered on to the motherboard.

I am to use it for photography.

Thanking for your answer.

Regards

http://psref.lenovo.com/ has all the specifics for every model, if that helps.

I've always ordered laptops with the most RAM available, soldered or not. As for SSDs, estimate how much you'll need for Windows 10 and the programs you plan to routinely use. I keep all data (documents, pictures, videos) on a removable drive and/or in the cloud. By doing that 1) A 250GB SSD is plenty and 2) if my computer is stolen or fails, I haven't lost any data.

You'd be amazed at how many posts on all mfgr's forums contain the phrase "Help, I need to recover the data on the hard drive."  Either keep it elsewhere or back up the thing weekly. Preferably both.

https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/thinkpad/x-series/ThinkPad-X1-Carbon-6th-Gen/p/20KHCTO1WWENGB0/customize?

This model above has the upgradeable features at the time of ordering.

What about upgradeability on a later date?

Thanks

From this video you can see that there is no ram slot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Mns_W25BB8

So its not possible to upgrade at a later date.

RAM is soldered and not upgradeable but the SSD you can upgrade later.
